About Children's Village
For 50 years, Children’s Village, Inc. has provided shelter, food and clothing to Alabama’s orphaned, abandoned, abused and neglected children. Located in Birmingham, AL, Children's Village is the only program in Jefferson County that can accept both boys and girl, so many siblings have been kept together thanks to this organization.
A recently acquired third home is hoped to act as a Transitional Home for children aging out of the foster care system. Before it can become operational, it is in need of repairs. Any money raised from this race will go towards repairs for this house to get it operational as soon as possible.
About the Run
The Iron Family in the Iron City Run will offer a 5k and a 1-mile course, and participants can choose which distance they want to run the day of the race. Beginning at 9am on May 19, feel free to stay after they finish running to listen to live music and eat good food.
Registering online guarantees the participant a spot in the race and a t-shirt that will feature the run's logo, but don't let that stop you from bringing people to the run the day of! It will also be possible to register for the race at the site by cash or check.
All money raised from this event, including portions of that which the food trucks get, will go to Children's Village and help with getting the repairs done to their new Transitional Home.
